SUMMARY:Cambridge - Germany in Text and Context
DESCRIPTION:We’re thrilled to announce that Şeyda Kurt\, international bestselling author\, will kick off the public reading series Germany in Text and Context. \nHer book Hate explores the radical power of hatred: who is allowed to hate\, how it shapes society\, and how it can fuel resistance in a capitalist\, racist\, and patriarchal world? \nThe discussion will be moderated by literary scholar Dr Dîlan Canan Çakir and will include short readings\, conversation\, and audience dialogue. This event is in English. \nWhether you are a keen reader\, interested in Germany\, or simply enjoy thoughtful discussion\, this event offers an engaging way to discover how literature opens up conversations about the world we live in today. \nJoin us for this lively exchange on the political dimension of emotions!

SUMMARY:Libreria - with Tice Cin
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Libreria for an evening with writers Şeyda Kurt and Tice Cin exploring the politics of powerful emotions and their role in artistic creation. \nChallenging the idea that hate is purely destructive\, Kurt argues instead that it has played a crucial role in shaping politics\, culture and creative expression. In her work\, intense emotions become tools for critique and understanding – forces that can expose injustice\, galvanise and open space for new ways of thinking about solidarity\, resistance and care. In conversation with Kurt is novelist Tice Cin\, whose acclaimed debut Keeping the House blends myth and memory to explore migration\, belonging and the unseen forces that shape everyday life. \nTogether\, Şeyda and Tice will discuss how writers transform rage into narrative\, form and critique; how emotions that are often dismissed or suppressed can become catalysts for artistic expression; and how creativity itself can function as an act of resistance. \nThe conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing
